  • Carpaint with dirt from Substance, how?

I followed the excellent tutorial here to create carpaint with a model I am working with.
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...asticFlakesMtl

This works but only problem is that this basically looks like a new car paint.

What happens here is that this basically ignores the BaseColor layer from Substance Painter, and the BaseColor layer includes dirt and marks that I want to express in my material.

I could go and blend in dirt from roughness or glossiness to the top coat, but this only makes it look dusty.

    Any advice would really help.

Add another layer in your blend mtl and use it for the dirt. Put a standart vray mtl in there. Use a mask from sunstance in the blend channel of the blend mtl.

This is a little outdated. Many things changed since and not everyone agrees with grants workflow.
But this is still an awesome tutorial for learning to use the blendmtl for complex shaders with dirt/rust/dust.

        Thanks guys, much appreciated!
What makes this even more challenge that I will be needing to match same result in UE4.
