  • disable anti-aliasing

    Hi
Is there any way to disable anti-aliasing completely?

    Hello,

You can turn OFF the image filter in the render settings.

    Best regards,

      Thanks.
I'd like to actually disable the Image Sampler, not the filter. I was able to do this in FinalRender when using Afterburn to get really fast renders. Is it not possible in V-Ray?

You can use bucket sampler and turn off the Max subdivs - then there will be only one camera ray per pixel and it will be really fast.

Thanks. Unfortunately that doesn't get it anywhere near as fast as FinalRender. I could literally render useable Afterburn gas 4kx4k pixels in a few seconds if I unchecked the AA enable box.

Doing just that will still cast 6 secondary rays.
You may want to set MSR to 1 as well.

Thanks. I think I did and it made no difference, but I'll give it another try.

If it doesn't become quick, please send a scene to Support and mention the thread.
Are you 100% sure the version of AB you're running is compatible with the version of V-Ray?

I'm not sure if compatibility is guaranteed or not. The development on Afterburn has been on pause for years now and I think it just gets recompiled for each new version of max.
As well as being able to disable AA in FinalRender, you also used to be able to do extreme under-sampling. So when I came to V-Ray, I was surprised to find the minimum sample 1 and not 1/64th.

Eheh, ofc, if you used Adaptive subdivision AA then there is no match.
On what V-Ray are you on?
Also, would you mail me (at the address in my signature) a scene with a simple AB setup?
It's more personal curiosity, for now, but i'd be thankful.
