  • Display Correction / render / texture workflow confusion

    Hi All,

I have a bit of a noob question so please bare with me and try to explain to me the correct render / texture workflow nowadays.

I might have been technologically left behind over the last few years and perhaps mine and other employees workflow in 3DS Max is a bit outdated now.

So currently we create 3ds Max scenes with Gamma /LUT at 2.2
We *only just* started to use Vray Bitmap instead of Bitmap to load textures for models. Whilst exploring the new Vray 5 render frame buffer, I've noticed "Display Correction" on by default and set to sRGB.
The textured models have been rendering rather "washed out" so I manually added colour correction node and lowered Gamma by half to get pleasing results. Now I noticed I can toggle sRGB to None in Display Correction, and most likely this would result in "normal textures" (if I removed my previous colour correction node)

Now as you can see I'm a bit flustered and have no idea what would be the best workflow - ideally I don't want to colour correct all textures but load them as is... Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere or other knowledge gaps so please can someone explain it to me like I'm 5 years old
Should I be in "none" mode for display or remain in default "sRGB" ?
We comp renders in Photoshop and have many users who are not proficient in 3ds Max and workflow all together so we want to stick with "easy and efficient" workflow, what you see in VFM is what you get... (no aces please )

    Thank you
Working...
