Normally you would apply the light mix to your scene and then re-render.
Alternately you could render VRayLightSelect Render elements for the lights you wish to manipulate in post and then Add or Subtract them from your beauty pass in the compositing app (Fusion, AE, Nuke, etc.)
I would expect that there is a render element in the exr, which can be instantly manipulated and maybe even animated.
Rerendering - especially a sequence - is not time-saving.
To make the most out of the new capability I hope chaosgroup adds animation sequence (batch processing) to the possibilities.
If you set the render elements up before you start the render then you get them all at once. We always use separate files, but I believe you can include them all into monolith EXR files containing most of your render elements if you prefer.
I guess it might be cool to be able to apply it to a sequence. Perhaps you could script it.
I don't do any compositing in VRay/VFB. All of that is done in a compositing program here. However, somebody else may chime in with their workflow that may help you.
But how can I use this with a sequence, when rendering an animation?
Save the layers (single EXR to shuffle, or multiple EXRs for each LS), animate in your favourite compositing software (multiply each layer by a color, and plus them together).
What you ask requires a timeline and keyframes, currently absent from the VFB2.
Tying the VFB2 keyframes to that of the host application(s) looks terribly rife with problems (f.e. should it have its own timeline? should it respond to that of the host app? what happens then if i scroll the host app but want the VFB to stay in place on the frame it has currently loaded? and on and on the series of conundrums go.).
