  • VFB missing things when back to beauty added

Is there a reason for this? I'm sure there is but I can't think what.
There are no lens fx options, for example, plus the other options missing.
Also if I add a Light Mix element then that cancels the B2B but nevertheless is unusable due to the other option being missing.

The VRayBackToBeauty element is designed so that it adds the necessary passes for the basic composition of a rendering. This does not include effect passes (such as Lens effects and Denoiser), which are not components of the rendering itself, but a manipulation of the rendering.
Regarding the LightMix element, its designed workflow consists of rendering followed by lighting adjustments and their application in the scene and rendering again (or directly used in compositing).
How exactly do you expect the Back To Beauty element to behave? And to what other missing options are you referring?

      Hi,

Thanks for the explanation but I just thought the ability to add lens fx would be a given.
Also, with the Light Mix, I would have thought it desirable to work regardless.
To clarify what I mean; I thought the B2B was just a simlified, one button click, to add all the elements necessary to be able to adjust things in post.
However, if these other utilities are not working in conjunction with it then it is simpler to add the necessary elements manually and have everything else work as expected, i.e. lens fx etc.

Maybe I am alone in thinking this. It's not a massive problem to do things another way

Which postprocessing are you referring to - the composite section in the VFB2 or a separate compositing software?
In both cases, the Glare effect is present, either through the lens effects themselves or through the automatically added Glare channel when saved.
The Back to Beauty element is a simplified method of adding the necessary elements for the RGB's reconstruction.
Light Mix does work in conjunction with back to beauty - both through "to composite" and through "to scene", but possibly not the way you expected. Maybe you would like the Light Mixing to be integrated into the render elements adjustments themselves?

I think what happened, an accidental dragging I guess, is that the entire panel containing the effects and thus the ability to switch from rgb/lightmix/composite had been hidden, as in the grab.
Panic over LOL! Maybe it needs to not disappear entirely but that's nothing major, now that I know it can happen

Seeing that the Mixer can simply be sent to the composite, where the B2B is, that is problem solved.
          Thanks for the response
