  • Video inside Crystal/Glass

    Hey folks,

Just wanted to pick your collective brains to see if anyone has a good method for this.

I want to create a scene where I have captured video playing inside shards of glass or crystal. Similar to the look of the Fortress of Solitude in the Superman movies (example below).

Anyone got a decent method for this or is it as simple as have a glass object and put a plane with the video inside it and smooth the edges out with an opacity map?

yeah, just put a light with your video texture behind the glass. Or a card with self illumination.

If the distortion isn't enough, you could always pre-distort the image in whatever compositing program you use, and then use that behind the glass.
