  • V-Ray Material and asset browser

    Hello All,
could somebody please if possible tell me where the pre-set V-Ray material library stores there texture maps?
I am talking about the preset materials that come with V-Ray now (see attached image)
for instance the brick maps have a path and name that looks like this (assets\Bricks\Bricks_A_Diff_01_hires_srgb.tx)
where is this located on my computer?
is this a texture map that can be edited?
    thanks for your help

Usually here: "C:\Users\<user>\Documents\V-Ray Material Library". The path looks like this because it is relative; the source path is set in the Customize>Configure Project Paths>External Files menu in 3ds Max.

      hello Aleksandar,
so are the textures maps something that I can edit in photoshop?
lets say to change the color or something?

No, they can't be changed, which sucks.

Rename the .tx extention to .tif and it should be editable (the tiles may be lost, however). Another way is to edit the texture within 3ds Max, of course.
