Does anyone know where i can find a library of 3D Animated People not RPCs, but some of the Athletic people and walking people, riding bikes, swimming, etc. Thanks in advance
your best bet is low res people models and get some motion capture done. it cheap if you know where to look, try universities, they usually do good deals. There are some mocap libraries around on the web.
thanks again! i had actually seen that site before, but didnt bookmark it, thinking, i'll never want that!
well now im looking for as many resources as possible for it. i saw an animation that had people swimming, running, bike riding, and i was like there has got to be an easier way! so thanks alot
oh ok, i think i get it now, you can get characters that are already rigged to be animated, and then you can set them in the desired animation sequence you want, then just plop them in your scene or animation right? but they dont typically come already setup?
if you pay more some come already setup with a skeleton. all you need to do then is apply the motion capture. Save the motion as a point cache file, then you can drop the characters where ever. In the last project I did there were over 100 characters, all based on around 30 people, with clothes changes etc, and lots of mocap files. Worked very well.
i've also got those Axyz Design and Lowpolygon people... and to increase the variations, we simply redid the textures and had many different types of people... also saw another collection recently (some japanese models) that come rigged already so u can just put a biped file onto them and have nice movements. am going to look more into those as well to make the collection even better.
for lots of people i also check the site http://urbansimulations.com/ as a good reference...
the axyz people have much simpler uvw unwrap mapping to edit
the lowpolygon peoples maps avery broken up and dont look as good imho.
The ayxz people also animate quite well
in max you get a bunch of basic movements with character studio plus you can generate any walk run cycle. animating thems not that hard.
