  • Animating a large number of vray lights?

    Hi guys.

I have a grid of 30*30 vray lights that I need to turn on in a wave, as if the power is spreading to each one. I've absolutely no idea how to do this other than keying each one, but that would take an eternity.

    Any ideas?

I think you will need to script it if you want to use actual vray light. (store the lights in array, enable autokey, make a for loop and add keyframes for the intensity based on thedistance to null /x position for example)

Personally, I would use vray light material with direct illumination instead,That way you could simply animate the texture and get the desired effect.
Furthermore, with tyFlow you could map the age, distance to object ,noise texture to a vector and use that to drive the animation for the illumination if you need that fine control.
If you could post more info about the scene we might be able to give more accurate solution.

Simply, I love to put pixels together! Sounds easy right : ))
