I'm using a cleaner script for max files and in older sloppy files I noticed reflection subdivisions that are way too high (>35). I cant change those with the new v5 as it is gone from the material menu. I do have another script that batch alters multiple materials and I can change it with that, but its a cumbersome, blind process.
I thought reflection subdivisions did not have an impact anymore in V5, but there is still a difference in noise between low and high reflection subdivisions. This can clearly be seen in the material editor when using a script to manually alter the ref. subs. Some materials are grainy because the subs are still too low.
To the point...
What is the workflow now with V5 and reflection subdivisions since they still seem to have an impact on time and quality, but cannot be seen or easily altered anymore? It seems like it is still necessary to have the subdivision roll-out since it still effects the quality and time.
Thanks
