  • V-Ray material Library browser - Add to Library - is there any way to put libraries into our own folder(s) ?

I'm using some free time this week to get myself more organised with the V-Ray Material Library Browser.

I have lots of material libraries (eg Poliigon, Arroway, etc) and would like to keep them in their own separate Folders rather than have them added somewhere inside or at the end of the "V-Ray Material Library" folder, as then they'll just get jumbled amongst Chaos's own materials and I don't want that.

Is there any way I can create my own Folder(s), not nested and not within the "V-Ray Material Library", eg. just make a Folder called Poliigon for all my Poliigon Materials to be within (eg leather, wood, stone etc).

Then do the same for Arroway, etc etc.

If so, please can someone tell me how

    Many thanks.

No such way for now. No plans for doing it in the future as well, unless there are a lot of requests.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Peter, definitely want this...otherwise have to resort to putting a special character in front to organize separate from the built-in library which is not an elegant solution.

Request this ...keep losing the file references.

definatwely want this feature - otherwise whats the point of it?
also network install for library please, unsure why its not an option.

the material browser is a strong idea fundamentally but poorly designed feature wise atm and i do wodner why it is seperated from cosmos? another chaos idea to make more 'products' perhaps?
stick to the basics guys - you used to do those so well.

I hate to say it, but since my suggestion was dismissed, I found that K-Studio's Project Manager does a much better job - it's faster and it retains the material's name AND you can drag and drop it into the Editor or onto an object etc.

Plus it does more than just materials (of course!).

I'd still like my idea implemented, because I do believe it is a good idea but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it

The really biggest advantage of using Project Manager is that it has very dedicated support and a load of features. The only real (but very minor) disadvantage is, that because of the many inbetween updates, there may be some annoying irregularities/bugs, but then they are solved very fast.
I see the Chaois materials just as an extra collection to use when setting up a scene fast, and when these materials really are that much better, I will integrate them in Project Manager. But in the end, at least half of my materials have to be remade for each project again and again.
