The problem with Dome lights (and so HDRI's) is that multiple ones are not supported in Pulze, which I use to steer big scenes. My main file has the Building, and Pulze knows what to load and remember to render a scene, like complete interiors and surroundings as XRefs, etc. Until now I use "portals" for a specific interior, and save them into the XRef for that interior. A second Dome that uses an in/exclude-list with objects from the main file, loses this list when saved in an XRef. Therefore I would need lots of Domes for each interior in the main file, each with different in/exclude-lists that I would need to switch on/off by hand, since Pulze can't remember the settings for multiple domes in the same setup.

I also used to use IR+LC + Vray lights as skyports...but without them, it takes off a lot of the versatility from vray...and slowly forces us to a full brute force mode. Which is just sad! Chaos Group, bring back the sky portals feature please!

There is no need for that "versatility" as both IR and Portals are outdated and not needed for most/if not all scenarios.
Also, why would you want to do full brute force? BF + LC is more than efficient for the vast majority of scenes and lighting scenarios.
