  • Had to reinstall windows and everything from scratch. I can't get my Lens Effect back in VFB.

I'm just getting back to my 3d art and relearning V-Ray. Currently getting tripped up a bit. I opened a scene I was working on before I had to reinstall everything and my Lens Effect is not working. I do get the warning: Lens effects skipped: no filter image. It's in my V-Ray Frame buffer but not adding the effect after render. I haven't changed anything in my scene. I have been chasing my tail for awhile googling and can't find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

    My glare layer is empty.

It is possible that the error 'no filter image' means that you have that option checked, but there is no image input to use, or the file it is looking for is no longer there.
Without a screen grab of the panel it's hard to say precisely.
Check if that is the case and just uncheck that option or relink to the file it expects to see.

      Hey ChiefsFan,

Can you please see if you've enabled the Filter image option under Properties, as indicated here: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...8_11-04-02.jpg
If no image is loaded, it will result in the warning you describe.

Edit: fixeighted beat me to it:P

Thank you for the reply fixeighted. Sorry I'm not clear on what option you are referring to to have checked?

Here is a screen grab of the panel.

I am still desperate to fix this. I'm obviously missing something fundamental?

On your attached image you can see the relevant setting at the bottom...'Filter Image' and it has a tick, meaning it is enabled and needs an image input, which it cannot find.
So either turn it off or use the dialogue to link to an image to use

                Hi Fixeighted.

Still not getting the effect on my render. Should there be something showing on the glare layer?

Hard to say without knowing what is in the scene. Are there bright enough lights for instance?
You're welcome to post a really simple scene with just the lights and we can have a poke around to see what's up

Hi Fixeignted I sent you a pm with the scene. Hope that is ok.

EDIT: So something weird was going on and fixeignted resolved it by changing the render engine then back to Vray. If anyone has this issue going forward start with that.
