Difference between hotfix 2 and update 1.2 with bucket image sampler noise threshold?

The instructor in the lesson I'm working through is using hotfix 2. He is able to set the noise threshold to 0.005 in his final render. This is the lowest value I can get in update 1.2. If I try to add another 0 it sets the value to 0.0 instead of 0.001.

What am I doing incorrectly?

You are probably running into a max issue rather than a vray issue.
Try changing this to a higher number under customize>preferences
