  • Cryptomatte Default - 4 channels rendered

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to render out the cryptomatte channel, set as per default, and the zdepth channel to.
Once the render is done, is saving 4 cryptomatte channel and 1 zdepth.
why Is it giving me back 4 channels per frame?

CM needs those extra channels, they are not meant for human consumption.
Once the multi-layer EXR is loaded in nuke, or analogous software, and a cryptomatte node is applied, cryptomatte will use those layers transparently.
      It wouldn't work without.

In the VFB, that complexity is hidden from the user (in both the compositor, when adding a mask, and the default RGB source, when picking the cryptomatte RE for viewing) via the preview channel only, but it needs to be saved in the multi-layer EXR or cryptomatte would break with third parties.

          Hi Lele,
thanks for this, I was trying in openexr, but I think I didn't check the options(first time ever I tried to use cryptomatte).
I wrongly assumed that default options was enough, thaks for pointing me in the right directions.
I'll try to fix the setting
