  • transparent material and glossiness

I'm having trouble with a VRayMtl material that has a map in the opacity channel. Why is the glossiness in the upper right segment of the planet disappearing in clouds.jpg? The clouds are applied to a second sphere that surrounds the planet.

    Thanks

    Hi Mark.
Would you be able to explain a little further? Clouds.jpg image is lookign decent...perhaps some more details and a bit more info on what you're trying to achieve might help me to get you a solution.
    Thanks,
    Andy

      Thanks Andy.
There is a VRayLight off camera that's producing a specular effect on the sea area circled in the below image. When I make the clouds visible, this glossiness disappears, even though the clouds aren't fully blocking the light in the area.

I cannot seem to reproduce the issue on a simple scene. Also, what do you mean by a VRayLight off camera? It would be best to send us the scene for investigation. Attach it here or send it via the contact form. If sending it through the latter, address it to me in the subject and include a link to this thread in the message.
