  • Exterior animation for this scene

    Hi guys,
I've never done any real animation...especially not exterior. So the scene is attached. Luckily not too much trees but maybe in future I'll have a scene with the forest. How do I even approach this? Would you even use MS grass for animation? They asked for a 4k animation but I'm pretty sure they don't know what they're talking about and I can probably just upscale HD. I'll brush up on vray settings for animation now, I hope they have something good but at the same time I'm hoping I'll get some pointers here.
They want several walkthroughs, a flyby etc.

Oh and guessing some online render service? When it started I recall you saying vray cloud was too expensive and I used Rebus farm and Render rocket last...if those still exist

    Thx in advance

Try Vantage first, as it will likely be perfectly adequate for something like this

In any case, make sure to storyboard your sequences properly, so you have a good idea of how long each one should be, balanced against cost, should Vantage not be suitable for whatever reason and you need to farm it out.

Thanks, interesting choice, will try! Currently on GTX1070. What would be the optimal card for it? I mean the prices are crazy these days. And as I see most cards have like 8GB of RAM. Was thinking of buying some 2070/80 or 3060 if I can find it in local ads.

Oh and sorry but can nvidia Tesla M10 be used for this? Googled it but it sounds weird what is it for...I mean only for desktop virtualizations?

Exported it as a vrscene but when I tried to import it it said it crashed probably due to not enough GPU memory. I have 1070Ti 8GB...so probably not gonna work.

Ok holy shit guys! This works! I mean it needs tweaking and I have to check everything out but even on my 1070Ti I've managed to make it work. I think it crashed originally because MAX was opened too. Now it took about 10 mins or so to import everything but it works! Will have to check everything out now to see how I can use it. Thanks for the suggestion...fingers crossed!

Hehe, cool, glad you got it loaded. There is a 'safe gpu allocation' warning that pops up, so you can try turning that off in options and it may allow you to load more things, up to a certain point when it'll
            just refuse.
I'm no cards expert but as always, bigger is better for this stuff
