VFB standalone

Hi,

It will be great if its possible. With vrimg, lightmix, glare and all other features and layers, it make sense I think. When I save vrimg file, I can change all lightmix layers and everything, but I have to start max.

Of course I can save it to Photoshop as multilayered tif or someting, but still I have great control before exporting to PS so I think it will be usefull feature.

Hmm, I found out that when I save image to vrmig, there are no lightmix layers and so on. It worked only when I use resumable rendering feature. Is there a way to save vrimg file after its rendered with all those informations?

I don’t know about Max but at least on C4D we are able to load .vrimg and edit all settings, including light mix. Maybe it’s a bug?

Just tested here and it saves the lightmix fine.

Hmm, I mean when render is finished, I click save button and render image as vrimg. In this case all lightmix layers is not saved. Can you confirm that please?

Just to double check, do you use the Save All Image Channels to a Single File option when you are saving the rendered image? Do you have any changes to the lightmix layers? And what version are you using?

Regarding the VFB standalone tool, it is currently under our radar so could you please let me know whether there is any additional functionality that you would find useful for such a tool?

I just tested again, to double-check, and all the methods work, either saving to history, all to one vrimg or separate files.
It saves any Lightmix changes also.
This with Vray 5 ofc.

My personal wish list for a standalone VFB
-sharpening/softening filters
-a basic chromatic aberration filter
-a quick DOF post processing tool like the one available in Nuke or similar

You are right, thanks. I forgot to swith to this mode so VRay will save all layers. Now its ok, thanks again.
I think with all those features VFB standalone makes more and more sense.

And answer for your second question:

I can quickly change lightmix in image. It is very fast way to change lights without needed to start PS. And its more powerfull in some way for example change light colors.
Another thing I am using it even now is quickly prepare layer for PS. I know you can save all layers to PS and change everything here. But I like the way I export only what I need. When I save all layers I have mess in PS. And I can prepare layer for PS in VFB copy to PS one layer composed from multiple thing in VFB so I can work on all that as one layer. It is just faster and more efficiant for me. Export exactly what I need in specific time. I think its the same for all the masks functions.
And of course there can be much more if chaos implement that - sharpening, vigneting, abberation, some coloring functions like in Camera Raw (I mean change saturation/lightnes/hue for only specific color) and so on.
