Hi all I'm new to Vray, im struggling to get displacement to work properly using poliigon displacement material. When using the displacement modifier it causes the displacement to be flat and if I increase the amount to 15 it just rescales the box. not increasing the displacement. please have a look at the attached images. any solution will be greatly apricated. thank you

Hello Mark.
You should try putting a negative value in the shift parameter, equal to half the value of the amount parameter.
For example: Amount of 10, and shift of -5.
Without the shift set like so, the displacement always happens starting from the original height, and going along the original normal, which is why you see the box "swelling".
Once you can see the mesh displacing, you can then adjust the shift parameter to suit your needs and the texture itself.Lele

Thank you for replying. I've done what you said and it's still swelling. if you watch the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YeiCMXxSW4&t=1s he has no trouble just increasing the displacement amount and not changing the shift. I've seen multiple youtube videos and none are experiencing what I am. perhaps I've got some weird virus glitch on my 3dsmax.

EDIT: Sorry, rephrase: could you pack the scene (with or without the texture is no issue.) and send it over?
I'd try and figure out what may be going wrong.Last edited by ^Lele^; 07-12-2021, 12:15 PM.Lele
