  • VFB2: Lens Effects corrupts rendering

    Hey guys,
I am super confused by the implementation of lens effects in the VFB2. Right now, enabling the lens effects mid-render simply corrupts my whole rendering.
Please see attached screenshots. As soon as the eye symbol next to the Lens Effects layer is enabled, both RGB and Effects Results channel are corrupted. The only way to get back your rendering is to disable the eye symbol. But this also means that now Lens Effects will be calculated for the image. Pressing the update button has no effect.
Am I too dumb to understand this or is it broken?

    Hello,

Are you using the latest hotfix ? The initial builds had this bug.

    Best regards,

Ahha i now see. This is the high resolution Light Cache preview - above some resolution the Light Cache preview only writes to some of the pixels. If you apply LensFx on that preview in most of the cases you get messed up result. One way around it is to disable the light cache preview (Show calc. phase). Overall force turning the LensFx ON on an unfinished bucket render will always yield wrong results so it is better to leave them as they are - if they are turned on they will recalculate at render end.

And a small recording from V-Ray Next and VFB 1 showing the same issue:

So as long as Lens Effects are enabled, they will get written, even if the eye symbol is turned off?

For bucket rendering they will be calculated at render end and auto turned on.
