Can we limit the amount of bounces somehow of lightcache? It's a little too efficient and bounces so many times it reduces depth and contrast.

Also, is there a setting to get Vray to clean up noise in darker areas more? Unlike Corona it doesn't seem to work on dark areas as much leaving large noise in those areas.

IMO light cache bounces are perfectly fine, if you need more contrast you can get that with a proper tone mapping setup Also, in general for the sampler is easier to clean a less contrasted image.
I agree the denoiser can be improved, lately I’m just using the Intel Open denoiser, is not perfect but it clean the noise everywhere and is very good in removing fireflies.
