  • How to make Shadow Catcher get direct light

    Hey.
    The blue surface is Shadow Catcher
    The background is just tile texture
    Trying without success for the blue surface to receive direct light
    Attached is a Max file and the image for illustration.
    Would appreciate help.

    To be clearer I want the shadow catcher to also catch light

      I'm not sure I understand this one, as it's only meant to receive the shadows.
      If you used a wrapper material, that would be one way to include the light, as a reflected element...maybe that'd work for the effect you need...

      EDIT: If you use the method I suggested then it won't actually work with that specific setup in your scene, as the rectangle behind the light will block that reflection,
      so you'd have to make the rectangle invisible to reflection, which may or may not work for your needs
