  • Using 3ds Max Rendering "Effects"?

    Using V-Ray 5, update 2.3 build 2 with 3ds Max 2023.

I have dusted off an old personal "Rendering Effects" plug-in which acts as a rendering post-process and composites motion-blurred starfields into a rendered frame, respecting alpha in the frame. It works with other renderers, updating the rendered frame to show the starfield properly composited into the frame and the starfield shows perfectly in the saved frames, but despite the Effect status showing up in the Max Rendering progress dialog after V-Ray completes rendering, the starfield effect does not appear in the V-Ray Frame Buffer -- nor does it show up in the rendered frame saved to disk. It's essentially lost.

Am I missing an option somewhere that will allow the 3ds Max Rendering Effects to work? Thanks.

Aha! If I uncheck "Enable built-in frame buffer" the effect works as expected. That gets me unblocked. I'm guessing that's the proper solution.
