  • Display colors in VRay frame buffer RGB space or not? Confused for years on this.

    Hi All,
I have watched a dozen tutorials on the right way to do this. My scenes are universally washed out, low dynamic range, My lighting is always with extreme multipliers. After 10 years of rendering still don't get it.

I want a simple workflow, for product rendering, right now

i have enabled gamma lut in max at 2.2
    color mapping reinhard 1.0 / burn 1.0

some of the issues running into is when i turn RGB space off which seems better but then i save an EXR file its screwed again.

what is best practice to escape this business of getting things simple clean good dynamic range, and savable without strange results when open in photoshop etc?

    Thanks Rich

Hi, if you leave 3ds max and V-Ray settings to default you will get a proper workflow for creating clean, good dynamic range renders.

That is only the basis and don't guarantee you a nice looking render. This depends mainly on the artist.

Opening a render in post production software like for example Adobe Photoshop is another matter. Let us focus on the rendering and saving part for now.

Could you share with us a specific example of a washed out render that you did and feel like it is not looking as it should?

my intention is to not use screen space for output in final render 3.3 will that give more dynamic range? but i can not control the renders well that way, it requires lighting values not used. to

Hey rich0550 Please take a look here,

          https://forums.chaos.com/forum/chaos...88#post1029588

There is also the new ACES system, if you have the time to invest and adapt it will be very helpful

If you upload a simple setup I will take a look as well

          Best,

            Hi Muhammed,
I am using 3.3. Is there a proper workflow for non screen space in that?
