speaking of video cards, was just at a mates place playing some BF2, and i think my 7800gtx got mega hot and actually throttled back, because my frame rate went down to about 15FPS!!! (from around 70) very very weird.
That problem should be solved when i move all my stuff into my new case this weekend.
But was kinda worrying when you have the best "gaming" video card out at the moment and its only managing 15fps.

hehehe boy it felt hot, kinda too hot to touch in places

Are you overclocking it? I have to play BF2 at medium presets on my BFG 6800GT OC otherwise everything gets chopy and I crash copters with full squadmates in it.

Im trying to isolate it to the sound processing or the fact that I run dual CRTS...

No overclock, everything running at defaults. This is the first time its happened, and give the cramped space of my current case, im pretty much certain it was just overheating as my friends house was pretty warm....25c inside!

          Buy a "old" Geforce4 ti 4200 to 4800 and soft-mod it to a Quadro...
ti are Quadro, but ti are the quarter price....

Well in my experience I've found that the Quadro cards have very little speed increase in Max without Maxtreme, and Maxtreme has never worked properly. Nowadays cards are fast enough, it's not like you can't work with most cards. Discreet are concentrating on the Direct 3D driver. Get a DirectX9.0 compatible card.

              yep you are probably right.

But a "standard" Geforce allways hide a Quadro.
And a "standard" Geforce has half the power compared to a Quadro when you use MAX.
