when i render at a small test size the lens effects appear at a large size relative to the image but when i increase the render output size the effect seems to be unaffected and therfore the bloom, streaks and flares appear much smaller relative to the overall image.
How can i increase the size of the effects relative to the output size to give me the same results that i see in the smaller test output ?

That's odd. Could you share some screencaps, illustrating the issue? A simple scene would be much appreciated as well.

been doing a few tests this morning and the problem seems to have corrected itself. Not sure what was going on ... very strange.

Glad to hear it. Post here if it happens again, so we can investigate.

taking also account on this thread here discussing the same before: https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray...00#post1147760

I´m also having this problem. And yes, while 3dartvision is mentioning that: also didn´t understand, why one time it worked well and the next time it was not and stayed small.
I haven't watched about for solutions, since under production circumstances, I haven´t that time for it. But encountering that others are having the same probs, may encourage chaos to have a closer look.

maybe making it possible to get far behind 100 at the values might solve this?

Ive found this to be the case also in Maya. Id be test rendering at a 2k resolution, and I need to set my lens fx size to suit that res. If I then set my render res to 8k, my lens fx arent sized correctly. I always now have to render a final quality-ish image to dial in the lens fx size before setting off the shot to render final.

Same here, it has always been like that. The size we use for IPR can not be used for high-res print output.

I dont mind it so much now, since I really need to see what they look like at full res anyway, same goes for applying any sharpen when matching the render to the backplate sharpness. Its nice to dial that sharpness in, and I just do the lens fx at the same time. Also, with faster machines, progressive and decent denoising, you can get to a smooth enough high res in a very short amount of time to be able to make the high res tweaks.

That's strange, I never noticed that since Lens Effects were updated a couple of years ago. The old behaviour was indeed linked to resolution of the render.

So I did some tests at 1K, 4K and 8K resolution. And it seems fine. See attached zip (couldn't upload an 8K image).

Which version of Vray are you using?
