How do I temporally use my Vray license on another computer?

Hello, could someone explain how I can use my Vray license on my laptop? I would like to use the portable license utility in VIZ 2006 to bring work home but can't get Vray to work.

Shane, you have to be connected to your work computer.
You can do this over the internet if you know how (i dont know how sorry)

Basically when you are at home Vray still needs to authentic with the authentication server back at your work. You will need to find out whats vray used and get your IT guys at work to forward those ports thru to your auth server's ip address.

So then when your at home you just enter your works external IP address in the Vray: Authorization rollout in the render panel

It looks like it used port 2727, but i have a feeling that changes abit
Ok looks like it just goes up from 2727 depending on how many connections there are.

Maybe Vlado can confirm the exact range/starting point.

So either way it can be done, but you will need your work IT guys to make some changes for you to be able to access the auth server while you are at home.

Thanks guy's for the replies. I will give your suggestion a try DaForce. It sounds like a pain in the butt since I am my own IT guy. I don't have the time and energy to figure out all of this networking stuff. I just want to make pretty pictures with Vray. The whole software licensing thing seems to only have an affect on people using legitimate software.

Would be nice too. I'm at my regular job and had to make a change on something but couldn't tunnel into my home where the license exists. Perhaps I need to forward a port or even put the comp on the DMZ (which I prefer not to...) I guess another alternative is to VNC in (which involves port forwarding as well.) But it's not the same.

Daforce, thank you very much for the gracious offer to help. What type of information do you need from me to help? I'm at home now but I can get all of my setting tomorrow. At work I have simple setup consisting of a 2wire router and a gigabit switch. Thanks,

Ok what i need to know is your network/internet setup at each end.

For example.

At home you might have
2 machines connect to a Netgear rp614 router, which is connected to an alcatel adsl modem.

At work might be
1 machine connection to a dlink DSL302g modem router.

I will also need to know if you are using any firewalls besides the ones in any routers. Cause these may need to be tinkered with as well.

So basically tell me your network layout and what all the bits of equipment are, so i can give you as detailed instructions as possible.
