  • Vray Raw Image File - Which sense makes it, when also "save RGB" is enabled? Is there a diffference?

    Hello,

which sense makes it to check "Vray Raw Image" when I save out Renderelements in separate folders and can check there "Save RGB"?
Is there a situation where it makes a difference? Maybe with Lensflares?

Would save me time, not having to adjust always both file paths.

    Thanks

Hi I am not sure I understand the question.

You have two options to save your output - one is the V-Ray raw image file and the other is the Separate render channels

Each one gives you a bit different capabilities. You can also enable them both.

Here is the documentation for the Frame buffer - https://docs.chaos.com/display/VMAX/...uffer+Settings

The raw file save has a number of desirable properties:
*) It saves all render elements to a single file, decluttering storage, and -marginally- speeding up file reading (compared to multiple single files, particularly for slower storage, f.e. network).
*) It can save the image when no frame buffer is present (i.e. "memory frame buffer" is off), so that tiled EXRs are created without RAM wasted for the VFB (important for huge resolutions and many REs. Only works with buckets.).
*) It uses our own EXR saver, thereby allowing for the advanced saving options the vrayOptionRE contains.
*) A corollary to the above is that the file path is a "string", not a "bitmap", for Max thereby not risking issues with "missing assets" in network rendering.

        Thanks, good to know.
I always thought I need to enable both in order to get beauty and renderlements separated. Seems that I have always wasted a lot space.
