Has anyone had any problems mixing the two OS in their render farm?

I will be running two of each in the near future.

      Nope.

There's major problems trying to run them both on the same machine, but on different machines in the farm I've seen no problem or differences whatsoever between my various machines running Win2k Intel, Win2k AMD, WinXP AMD, or WinXP64 AMD.

I think he's talking about a dual boot system on one computer. I wouldn't even consider that. I was referring to two of my computers being win 64. Thanks for info.

Yeah i know exactly what he was talking about, thats why I asked.
I cant see why having both xp and xp64 on the same machine would be such a big problem, i know people that are doing it. Even percy is!!

I've never done a dual boot system. Do you have to reformat the drive and install win xp and then install win 64?

If reformat is not required, will win 64 run the programs already installed?

                        TRGraphics:
As far as im aware if you have an existing winXP system, you can just install xp64 along side it, but in a different directory windows64 or something.
As for the programs running, i believe they will have to be installed seperatly because xp64 wont have all the registry entries...etc... of the normal xp pro install.
Either way it would have no negative impact on the original xp pro install as far as im aware.

I'm running Win XP and Win XP 64-bit as a dual boot on the same machine... no problems so far, but you will need to re-install your programs under Win XP 64 - just like with normal dual boot situation.

                          Best regards,
                          Vlado

                            heres what I did:

I had a new harddrive that hadn't been paritioned yet. So I installed windows xp pro and had it partition half the drive. Then formatted and installed as normal.

Then inserted the winxp 64 cd rebooted and had it partition the remaining space, formatted and installed as normal. I had no issues really at all.

I setup a dual boot setup, but had probelms with our windows domain. There were also problems involving trying to remove one of the OSes, and to top it all off, a lot of programs have bad installers that assume default locations for various system folders and files.

For me, this all = waaaaay too much hassle. So I stay in XP64 even though a bunch of my apps/utilities don't work any more.
