  • Convert your scene to ACEScg with a push of a button!

A new tool to convert a 3ds Max scene to ACEScg with push of a button: https://youtu.be/ae0XcGLG2RI
You do not need to download OCIO config to use the tool or see the result (we are using custom lookup table in the VFB).
When the custom LUT is applied, you do not need to overwriting the gamma to 1.0 when saving the image as the output is in linear space.

Are u sure its not a scam?

Received "subscription" message with some code not even mentionaning it activation code and when i try to use it the activation will always fail.

Hi M, definitely not a scam.
We even have a 15 days free trial with no credit card needed, just press the Activate button, enter your email and you can try all the Pro and Subscription tools with no limitations.

I'm sorry for your trouble with your first activation attempt. From your email replay we understood that after restarting your 3ds Max the activation was successful. The activation requires an internet connection and such errors can be from Windows service, firewall or anything else, not running or blocking the connection. Let us know if you have any other questions or problems with the product.

If any one else have any issues with the tool you can write here or send us an email from this page: https://www.avizstudio.com/contact/

Small updated with examples for the difference between recommended V-Ray ACES workflow and AColorManager:

        1. First, to start using ACEScg and see the result on your screen while rendering, you need to download and set up the OCIO config. This is not a difficult task, but you need to download a large file:
        • The recommended archive is 1.9 GB, you can download it from here.
        • You can download AvizStudioTools-AIO (less than 10MB), install it and start using AColorManager in a few seconds.

        2. The assets from Chaos Cosmos in general are set up correctly for ACES, However if you are working with old scenes you need to rename your textures or convert all old bitmaps to V-Ray bitmaps and set the correct color space. Even when all this is done, in some cases it's not enough. If any of the assets materials is not using texture but color for the diffuse or similar material slot, there is no easy solution except manually converting these colors:
        • This is a test setup in sRGB colorspace (all assets can be found in Chaos Cosmos):
Click image for larger version Name:	2a_Assets_sRGB.png Views:	0 Size:	418.3 KB ID:	1152555
        • The test setup in ACES colorspace with recommended workflow (the color of the vehicle is not handled properly):
Click image for larger version Name:	2b_Assets_ACES_VRay.png Views:	0 Size:	431.7 KB ID:	1152556
The render is even faster then the standard sRGB scene, but the colors are not correct.
        • The test setup in ACES colorspace with AColorManage + OSL maps (the color of the vehicle is converted properly):
Click image for larger version Name:	2c_Assets_ACES_AColorManager_OSL.png Views:	0 Size:	414.5 KB ID:	1152557
The render time is longer compared to recommended as AColorManager is using an OSL map to convert the colors in this example.
        • The test setup in ACES colorspace with AColorManage + OCIO maps (the color of the vehicle is converted properly):
Click image for larger version Name:	2d_Assets_ACES_AColorManager_OCIO.png Views:	0 Size:	415.9 KB ID:	1152558
The render time is only a few seconds longer than recommended as AColorManager is using an V-Ray OCIO map option to convert the colors, but you need to setup OCIO config.

          3. If you use complex materials with color correction or similar maps then the recommended workflow may not give you the output you expect. The reason for this is that the conversion of the textures is performed in the input bitmap node. Then your color correction is performed in ACEScg color space, not in the sRGB color space as in the original asset or scene:
          • This is a test setup in sRGB colorspace (VRayColor maps mixed with VRayCompText for the diffuse color of the first row of teapots):
Click image for larger version Name:	3a_Colors_sRGB.png Views:	0 Size:	245.6 KB ID:	1152560
          • The test setup in ACES colorspace with recommended workflow (the colors of first row of teapots is different from original):
Click image for larger version Name:	3b_Colors_ACES_VRay.png Views:	0 Size:	271.0 KB ID:	1152561
          • The test setup in ACES colorspace with AColorManager (the colors of first row of teapots is close to original):
Click image for larger version Name:	3c_Colors_ACES_AColorManager.png Views:	0 Size:	285.2 KB ID:	1152562
4 V-Ray bitmap and color nodes will compute slightly different colors when converting internally from sRGB to ACEScg color space compared to using V-Ray OCIO map for the conversion. The difference in the values is not significant:
          • Top row of teapots is using OCIO map and bottom row V-Ray Built-in conversion:
Click image for larger version Name:	4a_Colors_ACES_OCIOvsBUILDIN.png Views:	0 Size:	75.8 KB ID:	1152563
The image above is showing the Diffuse Filter.
          • AColorManager can use both OSL maps and OCIO maps to convert colors and textures.
