  • 2d displacement (help needed)

    getting some strange results

    1.09

    1.47

looks like tight bounds is OFF ... but it is ON
tried unchecking, not a single pixel has changed in the rendering

1.47 clearly does it in a different way

    i miss 1.09 already
i used to like my bounds tight ....

i guess shifting it around a bit is all i can do to close the holes in the side ...

If you look closely, the surface is open in the 1.09 version as well; it would be best to have a small black boundary around the bitmap you use (unless it is tiled, of course).

      Best regards,
      Vlado

        thanks Vlado!
        you're right as usual
the holes are present in both versions
i guess something about the lighting is what makes them show up more in 1.47
        no biggie
still let me join the army of those crying about the speed
the best a got so far on an exterior to match the quality of 1.09 is a rendering ~70% slower than it used to be

whoever had the idea of per-object QMC settings was really thinking
because certain object such as grass don't need as much lighting and AA detail as buildings for example
and having a flexibility of per-object quality control could be a big time saver

        have fun at the show!
        Keep Going!
