VRayDecal and matte objects - what do you expect to see?

When you have decals projecting on a matte object, what do you expect - to see them?

Or not?

If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Assuming that a matte object should only ever display anything in the alpha channel, then I wouldn't expect to see anything in the beauty. Unless I have my wires crossed on this?
