  • Motion Blur question

    Hello,
I have some very basic question but couldn't find an answer:
What is the best method to achieve such a motion blur as the one on attached image. I have an aeroplane flying over the camera. Its propellers are spinning. The problem is when the whole plane is moving the propellers are affected not only by their move (spin) but also by travel motion blur. I tried to set all objects motion blur duration to 0 except propeller and see result on the image. What I want to achieve is the example on the bottom image. There that effect is achieved by stopping the travel motion (wing is not moving). Only the propeler is spinning.
    Can You help?

I think decreasing the "Shutter efficiency" value (Render setup> V-Ray> Camera) so as to get more samples in the middle of the frame and increasing the geometry samples for the propeller should yield your desired result.

This question is interesting , I tried set a camera attach to a moving teapot, made them relative stationary ... and failed

Sure would like per object interval center, efficiency, and bias controls for moblur...

I've logged this as an improvement request (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-12631).

If you tried in IPR, that is the reason why. This is a very old and really annoying bug.

Why wouldn't think work? The moving plane has a strong motion blur, so that makes sense that it works in this way? Are you calculating the propeller rpm properly and setting the appropriate subframe geometry samples?

Thank You very much for Your replies. I will try to be more accurate in setting up the scene (using physical settings).
