Vray Material Library Browser

Just switched to Vray 6 and when I open the Vray Material Library Browser it opens the Cosmos Browser (which has some Vray Materials as well, but not the same as in the old Vray Material Library Browser)?

Is the original Vray Material Library Browser gone or am I missing something?

HI yes that is an upgrade to the V-Ray 6. V-Ray Material Library is now part of Cosmos Browser.

Thanks for your answer. The material section in Cosmos Browser is missing a lot of materials previously available in the Material Browser (for example the metal section). Are those materials coming back? And why a separate button for the Material Browser in the Vray Toolbar if it just opens the Cosmos Browser?

Yes and a lot more in addition after that.

1. For easier transition from the old browser.
2. It will still work as before if you have the library already downloaded (not recommended).

What are we supposed to do if our older projects have materials in them that the new library doesn't have?

Already applied materials that are packed with the scene will be still there. Also as stated above - the old material browser will still work as before if you have the library already downloaded.

But the most important part is that two days ago the Cosmos team added all missing materials from the old library. Now the Cosmos library is richer than the legacy one and there will be a lot more stuff added in the future.
