  • IES Lighting Question

    Hi!
Is there any way to make the shadow from an IES light lighter? Not more blurry, but just not as dark. I'm trying to recreate images from an earlier version of 3ds Max, before I had Vray.

    Thanks you!

Duplicate the light and turn off shadows for the duplicate. Then adjust their combined values to achieve the effect you want.

I don't recall there being a shadow density setting, which would be very helpful...

Thank you, Joelaff! I really appreciate the tip. I wish there was a shadow density setting. That would make life easier.

I should mention it isbest to slightly move one of the lights so they don’t overlap perfectly.

With perfectly overlapped lights I have seen weird artifacts sometimes that drive you crazy trying to track down. So safest is to just zoom in and move the non-shadow light a tiny bit.
