I hear http://www.respower.com is a good one, but I can't say for my self, I have never used them.

      respower kicks ass.
i have used em on several occasions.

if you put it together yourself, deadline is a great farm manager.

I have used http://www.rendercore.com for a HDTV animation project in the past and the guys there are very friendly and try to solve any problem.

I have been very pleased with them .

I also have used Rendercore and found them to be very helpful in getting renders done asap.

ive only got 3 computers, 2 of which are for rendering, so more or less its just a flower pot or a window herb garden

I have 12 shuttles and 2 workstations that I let out to pasture sometimes. More of a ranch than a farm. There's 3 other workstations and a server or two out there that I should think about roping in.

Seriously though, building your own farm is not as difficult as it sounds. If you have experience building PCs, I put togethor 12 shuttles for around $600 US each. They don't have to be the uber-powerful-latest-toys-on-the-market to be good rendering machines. Small Hard Drive, cost-effective processor, at least 1G of ram, and a USB or Firewire cdrom that you can switch between them and you're off!
