  • V-Ray/Phoenix Ocean to wireframe

I was wondering if there was a way to display the ocean texture as a wireframe grid following the displacement? I'm trying to do an effect where it transitions from ocean to a flash of wireframe.

    Hey

Sure, just plug a V-Ray Edges tex in a V-Ray material applied over the geometry with the ocean texture and it should give you the wireframe effect.

Thanks for the reply, I tried that but it just turns all white. I should add that the ocean is being generated by Phoenix Ocean Simulation.

Ah, when using the Phoenix simulator the mesh will have too many subdivisions, this is why it turns all white.

A workaround for that would be to apply the ocean texture to a regular plane (where you can specify the mesh density) just for this part of the shot or to export the Phoenix mesh as regular Max mesh via alembic and then reduce the poly count.
