It is 2023; I am curious why I can't paint on textures in 3DS MAX 2023. I used a plugin for a snow scene, and painting in tire track on the snow, was so cool. Why isn't there a way to paint things on materials? I know there is software outside of MAX, but why not in MAX? Is it complicated to figure out? V-Ray Decals is fantastic and almost there, but not really.

Yeah, I know about that, but I have not been very successful with it. Does anybody use it?

It works and that is probably all that can be said about it. It will do tracks in snow. Quite slow above 8K.

I'll play around with it more. I gave up on it long ago, but maybe it improved. Thank you!

Have any improvements been made over the years? I wrote it off soon after they released it.

Not fundamental ones, but performance is bound to be heaps better with modern hardware.
I should also add that most stuff today is a one-click (quick peel), high quality UV-unwrapped thanks to unfold3d being integrated in the Unwrap UVW modifier.
