  • Transparent Texture or Object?

I am looking for the best/most efficient way to achieve a decent look for a transparent object. I've been simply adjusting the Visibility of the object (under object properties); however, I don't find the quality the best and render times are HUGE. What I'm trying to achieve is a good way to show the interior electrical chase through this object. See below:

Should I play with a transparent material? If so any pointers on that front? (I've never worked with a transparent material before)

Hi, thanks for posting. Using a transparent VRayMtl is the right way to go in my opinion. We even have a suitable built-in material pre-set to the VRayMtl - Glass (frosted)

    Here it is:

I edited the setting a bit to get this:

Depending on your lighting, desired effect and thickness of the refractive object you may need to tweak the settings.
