Saving disk space? Just use compression. There are some decent choices for exrs.

I don't know if this can be relevant, but I've noticed a very interesting aspect of using latest venoise vs older one from 3dsmax 2018.
New one (max 2024) seems to write all the junk into output files while older version did not do that.
We used to get outputs of around 7mb per 2k while feeding 50-60mb input exr.
Newer version gives 35mb output per 50mb input, which slows downs postproduction using output exrs considerably.

Here is an example using 2018 version , 7mb output

      Here is 2024 version - 43mb intput, 39 output

      Thanks

Our company is with OP and Melissa here. My colleagues who use Cinema4D or other render engines can quite easily get a 5-7mb denoised EXR with cryptomatte.
Yet when i try to do this 3ds Max with V-ray I have to deal with a big bloated file full of albedo, bump normals, denoiser with no other option.

We are online only and primarily producing long flythrough videos so we can't be syncing thousands and thousands of 40-50mb EXR's all the time.
Also per channel saving still breaks cryptomatte into 4 unusable separate files so what are we to do?

Rendering everything without denoiser is literally the only option to get a manageable file size.
We run fast and lean and prefer to not do denoising in post so the junk layers are completely useless and a drain on hard drive space and cause epic file sync choking online.

A tickbox or drop down in the denoiser render element would be perfectly adequate. Leave it off my default if you're scared of users complaining. Just give us the option like other engines. Please?
