  • Render Farm

Years ago, I used a guy to render out animations. He was just a guy, with his own render farm, and made extra money rendering things out for folks. Anybody like that today? I need to up my quality. I render my scenes in an hour, never takes more, but they fall apart when you zoom in. Nobody has complained, but I want a nice clean render for my finals; they will be stills. I have had poor experiences with automated and unmanned render farms. The estimated cost was always way off, and something seemed to have always gone wrong; I have avoided them for years.

If it is just stills that you need extra render time for, then why not invest in another pc purely to pipe those through?
That may be a lot less hassle than archiving/uploading projects to send to someone else to render.

Yeah, you are probably right. I'll have to step up and start shopping.

Otherwise, I am fairly quiet and would offer to render them, if that seems like an option, though depending on how many there are a new machine may be the cheaper alternative

The machines I have been looking at are expesive and although not as convenient, sending them out might be less expesive.

Haha! We don't support max. I think for your self, is best to get something like a threadripper 3990x pro 64/128 thread cpu with 256 Gb of ram, that would be like 5 normal workstations in one!

That is exactly what I am looking at, but they are expensive. I am looking at $12,000 - easy!

I bought that system 2 years ago. Its an upfront investment for sure. However user time is way more valuable then machine time. By getting the work done faster you are able to either do more work or go take a break and enjoy life, why do you make the money if not for that

I guess it is the same as always. Buy when you need, because there will always be something new down the pipeline.
