  • 3dsmax Vraycamera export to Davinci Fusion

    Hi,

I would like to add some text on some 3d planes in Fusion, but I can't export the vray cameras using the FBX export option inside 3dsmax.
What is the best way to export your vray cameras and import them back in Fusion?
    Thks for helping me out.

Nobody? Do I have to convert and bake the vray camera to a normal 3dsmax camera?

      Search for MaxToFusion script.

Thanks Joelaff, but it has some issues with the Vray camera. Is there a way to convert the vraycamera back to standard 3dsmax camera?

Ah, sorry, yes, search for GTVFX-ANM_maxVRayCameraConverter.ms

              Hi,

This script is over 10 years old and cannot even be installed in 2025.

Do you have an up-to-date workflow? or Do you know how to convert to standard camera from physical camera.

Hi inohide, that post is already a couple of years old, so I don't recall how I did it. I think using the above scripts. At that time I had to convert the Vray and Physical camera to a standard camera to get the right data for fusion. It's a shame that we don't have an easy connection between those two apps. As soon as I have the time I will look into it. Hopefully another user can give you some pointers. Let me know if you have found a better solution.

The integrated V-Ray Scene converter (top toolbar > V-Ray > Converters > V-Ray Scene Converter) has an option to convert Standard Cameras to V-Ray/Max native Physical Cameras.

EDIT: I posted too fast. Sorry, you want it the other way around. Let me investigate.

EDIT 2: Starting 3ds Max as administrator will let you install the script. Its UI is kinda funky, but it works.

I just run the script rather than install it. It does not handle physical cameras, though. At least whatever version I have been using for years.

Drag and drop was not accepted, but Run Script did it. It worked fine!

What I found was mzp, not ms. For the time being, it seems to be functioning properly.

                      Thank you for your Replies.

Oh, maybe I should check out the new version. I have an older .ms that I may or may not have modified. I can’t recall.

Does the new one handle physical cameras?

I’d like one that could handle converting Alembic cameras to Vray cameras.

Joelaff Only from a Standard Camera to V-Ray Physical Camera and vice versa.

I'll have to link it to Alembic's camera. But how can I get FOV?
