  • Wanting to improve on my V-Ray VFB workflow and PS compositing.

Wondering if anyone can recommend a course that's current? One possibly using cryptomatte in their workflow?

I've only briefly tried using Cryptomatte, but went back to just using MultiMatte instead. I'm not to familiar with Crypto, so definitely test out before taking my word, but I believe with MultiMatte, it gave me more control / organization with the geometry. If I had a wall, or a soffit made up of individual planks, when using MultiMatte I can just add a Multi-Sub Object material and have control over each plank, where with Crypto, I don't believe I was able to. Also, with Multi, you just put the same materials on one ID#. Then you separate everything thru channels in PS. There is some software that separates and loads all your render elements in PS too... but I can't remember the name.

Good post workflows take a little searching, but they're out there...! A little pricy, but I've heard nothing but good things and I remember them having a course specifically on post work at one point: https://www.stateofartacademy.com/
