  • refraction with color+alpha by default

Why is it set to color only by default?
    And not as color+alpha?
Will there be times I don't want it as color+alpha?
    I can't think of such a situation.

Sometimes one can find it useful, as currently I have a client that needs bottle products rendered against white but the bkg alpha'd
so they can stick them on arbitrary bkg colours

So if I understood correctly, you second what I'm saying - that you don't need color only

I assume it is slower with + alpha. But I never actually tested.

I meant in that case that I want the bottle/contents to be correctly rendered against a white bkg for example, but I do not want the alpha of the bottle...I want it solid so it can sit on any colour bkg and not pick up the colour from it.
