Cryptomatte + VFB = Heaven! I have heard you guys talk about, but I have been so buried in work, I have learned nothing new in a year . I was watching a CG Garage podcast, for the first time, and he was showing how to use it. Being able to lower highlights per element is going to be exceptional amongst everything else you can do.

Welcome to the party - since learning about Cryptomattes I use them literally on every single render

Coincidentally I just discovered this as well and you beat me posting this by a few hours. Cryptomatte and the new vfb layers makes short work of tweaking the image. It's so convenient and easy to just always add a cryptomatte element and from then on have the ability to tweak as necessary. It's really a huge timesaver to getting images finalized. Bravo!

Why a dream? It's already there.

You can add cryptomate to any renderelement

Lets say I have a raw reflection pass and I want to put in into my glass... how would I do that? I use PSD Manager, so it is easy in Photoshop. Can I do this in the VFB?

that seems like something I'd rather just do in comp after the fact, yeah.

Yes you can, add the render element you need, set the VFB in composite mode and use the needed channels just like in PS, then add cryptomatte or other masks to the element to affect only selected part of the image, you can even add or subtract masks inside the same render element.

How do you add adjustments to individual render elements? Vray6 won't let me add any layers to individual elements.

You lost me at set the VFB in composite mode. I'll play around when I get a chance. Thank you!

I feel like the VFB composite would be amazing as a node tree. Also, itd be great if VFB layer adjustments respected the undo function...correct me if Im wrong, but if I make a layer tweak, I cant undo it. I have to try to remember what the value was to put it back, or toggle.
