  • Distributed rendering beginner question

Hi guys , when using distributed rendering with a pre-saved ir map where should the ir map be saved so that the render server can find it and use it, my server renders as if it didn't use the ir map.

    Cheers

You should save the irr map in the job folder and all the render nodes should be able see that folder.

Thanks for the reply Natty, I tried what you said but the node still renders the buckets as if the lights have been turned off, strange because it works fine when I'm not using a saved ir map

Then you simply dont have your network setup correctly .. all your machines must see the same drive's and have the same drive extention.

so if you have a drive that is local and say's ... Private Work(D)
then your slave should see that shared drive as .... D on 'Main'(D)
Main being the server pc ... So all drive letters should be consistant... then it should work fine.

Also, check to see if your mapped comp network drives show up as disconnected after 'sitting idle' for a while. This could also cause dark buckets to appear. If so, read up on my post about 'disconnected network drives.' somewhere on this forum.

One of my questions to Natty is - is there a temporary place where a non-saved IRmap gets stored? I don't always save outa IRmap - just a bad habit of mine.
