  • Mapping Radius of Alembic Hair

I have some Alembic files that import as hair/splines. Is there a way to modify the thickness of these via a map somehow?

    Thanks.

There's a width multiplier in the VRayProxy options, but it's not mappable. Otherwise, based on what's written in this article - per-point width is supported (for Houdini alembics at least), but the mapping should be done prior to export. Where's your alembic coming from?

Thanks for the reply, hermit crab.

They are coming from Houdini. So at least we should be able to get it out that way. But the only control I will have locally is a multiplier.

Would be way cool if this could be mapped in the VRayProxy node in Max. Would be cool if particle radius/ width could be as well (in Max— we have the export of particle width working).

Perhaps you could consider at least adding an Addend option in the VRayProxy, giving us a multiplier and addend like the Phoenix particle shader has.

      Thanks.
