  • Color management

I need help with color management.
I have a monitor with adobe rgb space and I have always converted the bitmaps adapting them to my monitor by converting from srgb to monitor profile as I don't have the ability to manage color in 3dsmax.
Now with the new function of vray 6 that has enabled the color space management I don't know how to adapt my monitor since I don't want to work in srgb but not even in ACEScg because it is not the working space of my monitor and of all the other monitors that we have in the office. How can I solve going back to the previous management, it would be better not to manage the color as it was before at least for me.
    A thousand thanks.

Hi, thanks for posting. The default colour management in 3ds Max is still Gamma 2.2. Also V-Ray is setup by default for linear workflow like it was in the previous versions. ACES workflow is added as an extra feature.
If you have any issues with the latest versions, please show us examples and explain the issues in details (use screengrabs if you can).

Thanks for the reply, actually it's not a gamma problem but a monitor profile problem, if I open the old files they work as before without color management, while if I create a new file it works with the srgb profile (which is not suitable for my monitor having an adobe) or I can choose ACEScg but that is also not suitable for my monitor.

Hi, you can also choose "unmanaged" in 3ds Max 2024. The default settings are as they have always been. There are new features added but if you don't enable them they will not affect your workflow.

Ok, thanks, I'll do some tests and then let you know.

Is there a way to activate this new feature via command line on older versions? I currently use max 2022

3ds Max prior to the 2024 version was unmanaged by default.
