  • Vray Fog Directionality

    hi
is there any way to apply fog to entire scene and control its directionality with Vray ?
i cant find any parameter in vray environment fog that controls directionality like what corona do in this video, and scatter volume cant be applies to entire scene and doesn't appear in atmospherics render elements

Yes, unfortunately, the phase function (directionality) is present only in the VRayScatterVolume. We do have an improvement request (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-7539) to add the parameter to the VRayEnvironmentFog, though. I'll add your request as well.

It has been some time, however, it's not a very popular request. The implementation itself is not hard, but optimizing it for performance is.

          this is important feature
some scenarios can't be achieved without it

why not give us the option then keep optimizing the performance over the normal updates
          better there than nothing

i can imagine many users turning to corona just because of this feature

+1 for this feature as well. I try to keep away from fog because the results are a lot of trial and error to get the look just right. Most of the time the projects don't allow that much testing, so it's more comp. But I'm an all 3D person so to have more control is appreciated.

Yes please... We have been using empty VRayVolumeGrids for this, but a better VRayEnivornmentFog is most welcomed!

Yes, we are thinking of something of the sort.

Sorry to say, we cannot provide a specific time frame.

Still no news ?? You said its not hard to implement
                      almost 2 months have passed

at least tell us when should we expect this feature to be added

My plan for buying a year subscription for vray or corona depends on this feature so please help me decide ?

The functionality has already been implemented in our internal builds. After some QA, we'll push it to the stable builds.

Unless something catastrophic happens it should certainly be implemented in less than 6 months.
