How do I enable real time changes in the render window

I'm running 3ds max 2024, Vray 6. Trying to get back up to speed with max. How do I enable real time changes in the render window? As I'm seeing in this chaos video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8H1CNNFPgc&t=314s

I found the start interactive rendering icon. Which sounds like what I'm after. But how do I lock the current view in the renderer while I make changes in other views?

There's a lock icon at the top of the Render Setup. Right of the "View to Render"
